First off, Helsinki is a really historic town and everywhere you go in the city, there is something interesting to see and do there. The town is very old and so there are lots of museums, art galleries, located on the Baltic Sea, very modern and clean city and it is in a very dynamic and interesting capital. It also has a good airport, Helsink-Vantaa airport is serviced by every major Western airline, and you can fly to almost any major destination from there. Plus, Finnair, the flagship airline of Finland, has routes to Asia, Russia, Europe and North America and so getting places is very easy and convenient. If you don't go by plane, the train service can take you all over Finland, plus to Russia and also into Sweden in the north. The trains are incredibly clean, fast and safe and I loved my experience on them. Also, being on the Baltic allows you to travel by ferry to Sweden and Estonia very easily and it is a nice time to go there and spend a weekend enjoying yourself there. Not only that, there is good mobile phone service there, it is a vibrant capital that has good public transportation, hosts many sporting events, a cultural capital and it has good business links and so finding a job there will not be a major issue.
