Finnish people and visitors, help about Finland

Finnish people and visitors, help about Finland?
So, I'm planning to go to Finland and live there for a few years. I live in Europe, so is there any specific form I have to do so I can live there? Also, with immersion, on average, how long does it take to learn finnish? Do finns take well to foreign people? How many euros, on average, does something basic (like food or toilet paper) cost? Just to know the money difference from here (Portugal). Thanks in advance for your help.

Since you are an EU citizen you can move there. Problem could be that you might need to speak Finnish in order to get a job there. To speak some basic Finnish I would say it takes you about 1 year if you study full-time. There is plenty of information about Finland at http://www.finlandlive.info.

Yes, it is crucial for you to learn at least the basics of Finnish language, but the learning time varies quite a lot from people to another. Please note that since the economic downturn is still affecting Europe, yuo might not have it easy to find yourself a job.
