Have you visited the official Finnish visitors website yet? It has a lot of good information. It's www.visitfinland.com, but you probably already have it bookmarked. The Scandinavian Tourism Board in New York represents all Scandinavian countries, including Finland, and can provide more info. You can contact them at www.goscandinavia.com. If you want to move there, I'm sure you have already purchased a good guidebook to Finland from a decent bookstore. I can't imagine anyone wanting to move somewhere without researching the country, so I'm sure you have been also checking out books about Finland from your school or local library. Honestly, I enjoyed Sweden a lot more, though. Have you compared Finland to other Scandinavian countries? It might be worth it unless you had your heart set on Finland.

Much worse than America.

Why would you wish to move to Finland - or anywhere else for that matter - if you don't know what it's like? Why do you want to go? You need to get as many facts as possible before making an extraordinary and premature decision. Get a grip on yourself and have a rethink a.s.a.p.! Good luck - but make sure that the Finns are likely to welcome you.

Finland is a small country and you will notice that when you come here. We have the best education in the whole world, very good standard of living and great health care. Finland is expensive country but you don't have to be a millionaire to be able to live here. Finnish people are sometimes shy and reserved and it can be sometimes hard to make new friends. But if you have a friendship with a finnish it's lifelong. Finnish people know how to party and people drink a lot of alcohol here. When we drink it's not sophisticated. We drink until we are really drunk. We have four seasons, winter is usually cold and a lot of snow. Autumn and winter can be very dark and depressing time, but you will get used to it. In summer Finland comes alive again and it's very beautiful everywhere. I don't know where you from so I can't compare to you country, but if you have more questions just ask :) I would like to know, what do you know about Finland already?

Before you get your hopes up....it is very difficult to just move to another country in the EU. Unless your a doctor or nurse, or at least have a profession that they are lacking, or can prove your a fellow Fin, its very difficult to get work or even stay longer than 3 months. Do your homework! I am trying for Sweden and I keep hitting major speedbumps!!!!
