is the cost of living in Finland uber high? Is employment easy to find? I am trying to learn Finnish, but its quite hard to go at it by myself, its a slow process but i'm getting there. Anything i need to know before i move there? It will be a few years before I go, nonetheless i am starting to prepare now. Call me crazy, i dont know. ^_^ Again, any advice would be great! I've heard alot that Americans have a hard time adjusting to Finland, but im going to give it a shot. Finland is an amazing place. Lived there for 6 years in Espoo near Helsinki. It is quite expensive, taxes are high, although the recent elections showed that the Centre Party is to remain in the seat of parliament, so if all goes as planned, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen should lower taxes even more, although the National Democrats may retaliate (they hold the Presidency). It can be boring if you don't like Scandinavian lifestyle, but the city life is nice, and even the countryside is beautiful. If you go to Lapland you will find lots of traditional customs, although I don't recommend living there. It is cold, but you'll get used to it. The language is difficult yes, but it is very phonetic, one of the most phonetic languages, and you'll catch onto it with a little prior knowledge of the language. You're not crazy, Finland is a very expensive place to live, so having a stable job is important. Remember Finland is one of the best places to live in the world, and also one of the healthiest. It is also one of the only (the other Scandinavian countries being the rest) true democratic place in the world, elections do not rely on corporate funding of any sort. Enjoy Finland, you'll love it.

Actually ure better off in Sweden than Finland...LoL...am not just saying that coz am swede but the standard of living is rather different plus if u choose to live in the city areas, cost of living is definately much much higher.Unless of coz u choose the outskirts / suburbs. Have u gotten a job yet or u wanna just move & decide later?The finnish teach swedish in school tho, just so u know.So, they cud actually understand swede more.I personally find finnish a lil harder to learn than swede.What made u decide to move to Finland?Taxes can be high in scandivania..and also by moving to Finland, they are using euro's now so things can be rather pricey.But nevertheless..Good Luck!
